Reven’li Bajhiri
Candy-colored spitfire knife-for-hire.Incurably bratty flirt by choice, Rev is not the brightest spark, but he makes up for it with attitude and brazen confidence. That's not to mention his quick reflexes and a nasty left hook no one sees coming. If asked to choose between dirty makeouts and his brass knuckles he would be sorely torn, so please don’t make him choose.

Background
Ori was born to Nehanna, a lecturer and provost of Allagan history at the Studium in Old Sharlayan. Orion was conceived on a study trip to the steppe to look for Allagan relics - it was a last-minute fling, and Neha was home before she even realized she was carrying Orion. He never knew his father, Solenn, who had been a guide for Nehanna’s group.Orion grew up in Sharlayan, never knowing his father or really noticing his absence - his mother would later show him letters that told them his father died in a rockfall trying to save innocents not long after she had returned home. She always told him that he was a kind man, fiesty with good humor, though a wanderer like most of the men from his tribe, and Orion takes after him in height and voice, not to mention his penchant for adventure. He loved studying but also loved the natural world and running about. An omnivorous soul, Orion would often be found by friends up a tree reading books, trying to take apart mammets, or in the kitchens learning a new recipe. Unlike many Sharlayans, while he understood the point, he abhorred the taste of Archon Loaf. To this day, he loves to cook and enjoys mixology, once his cousin Sara showed him the ropes at parties in the dorms. However, history was his greatest love, and he was entranced by the historical stories his mother would tell him, of Nym and Amdapour and Mhach, of Allag and Mericydia, tales of Noah the Wise, Amon the Scientist, and Shantotto the Clever. There were stories, too, of myth and legend, of gods and magic, but the great civilizations that rose and fell during the Third and Fifth Astral Era were his mother’s favorite, and thereby became his as well.Indeed, by the time Orion was nearing graduation from the Studium, his mother had become a senior professor and he had become a favorite pupil of his mum’s old mentor. Arlen Vashthel was an older roegadyn whose penchant for the early Sixth Astral Era was almost as strong as the rumors that he tended to prey on the younger male pupils he took on as doctoral students. While Orion had fought quite hard for his position as one of those candidates, he also found himself on the knife’s edge of fending off such advances while trying to still gain as much knowledge as possible. His mother then became a useful foil, seeing a strange opportunity in her son’s unfortunate circumstance. After Orion came to her about the man attempting to put him in several compromising and unfortunate positions, she orchestrated a rather elaborate political maneuvering rescue. The end result got Arlen sent to a remote study outpost in Othard (“Surely he wanted to go and actually study in the field,” was how it was put to him), and she managed to shore her own heading of the study program up in the power play that followed, becoming Provost of the History program.Orion completed his studies partly under his mother’s watchful eye and partly under another professor who had deep interests in Allag. His doctoral thesis was based on theories of Allagan influence on Mhachi and Nymian tech. Considering he’d never set foot outside of Old Sharlayan, many were surprised at its depth, which Orion attributed to all the recent information flooding in from new sites on the continent. Indeed, he went above and beyond and gained the right to an Archon mark on his neck for his studies on Nym.By the time Orion had his Archon mark, however, he had long been chomping at the bit. Between a taste whetted by a friendship (with benefits) he’d had for several years with a gleaner who’d come up through the Studium with him and the stories he told him on his visits home, to all the tales and knowledge he’d accumulated of places he’d never seen… he was primed. Orion was desperate to see the wide world. He’d been well trained in self protection, and he’d had several offers from a number of different Sharlayan groups with people out doing field research and digs. Just what he had been dreaming of! His mother blamed it on the wandering heart of his forefathers, but the truth was he wanted to get out into the wider world and find out what was out there himself.Orion soon whetted his thirst, though slipping away from his mother’s hold was harder than he’d expected. She didn’t much like the idea of his in the field and in danger, and still doesn’t, to be frank. He managed to wheedle his way by working as an extra hand on a ship to pay for his passage, learning useful knowledge in the meantime, and arriving to a brand new world he found himself well suited for indeed. He had applied to join the Students of Baldesion, who put him on a few beginning assignments around Eorzea, involving sites including Amdapour and the dig in Mor Dhona, cutting his teeth and learning the ins and outs of field archaeology under the eye of experienced researchers like Rammbroes and the other Sons of Saint Coinach. After proving his worth, he was invited by Baluf to join the Students’ secretive project on the Isle of Val.After spending several years being sent out on missions related to the work being done there, he had become trusted to work on covert operations. It was during one of these that he was taken prisoner with a dig crew of Students by the Imperial Army. He spent over a year in a Garlean prison camp in occupied territory before escaping with a handful of his fellows and managing to struggle their way back to Allied territory… only to find the Isle of Val gone. The next few years were spent trying to rebuild the Students from what was left. With Oijika and his crew wrangling the Annex, and trying to handle funding, logistics and politics, Krile and G’raha helping when they could (while busy also being Scions). It was left to Ori and several of his fellow Students to get projects moving that were actually worth funding. This is what led to Ori joining the digs in the Bronze Lake area and specifically beginning the one focused on the Wanderer’s Palace. It was there, in the depths of the Wanderer's Temple that Orion lost the color in his hair and one eye, due to a mysterious accident involving a strange Nymian machine(?).The discoveries made at the Nym site were astounding. Orion met Surito Carito, and got to help during the search for the cure for the plague. The work there culminated uncovering in the actual cause of the Green Death, a voidsent defeated by the Warrior of Light themselves. He even assisted helping cure many of the remaining ancient Nymians, although he tended more towards interviewing and documenting their experiences before they were placed in new homes in a new-to-them world. After being recognized for his work in Nym by the Sharlayan higher-ups, he has been given a lead role in the workings at the Nym site. This has actually freed him up to be involved in other projects, traveling out and about Eorzea more often. He's been guiding expeditions in artifact recovery, led by accounts of recovered tonberried Nymians to items that would be worthy of preservation. He has also been a guest at several other digs in Ala Mhigo, Othard and on one memorable occasion recently, frozen Garlemald in the ruins of the capitol city.On a few occasions he has had to rescue objects and artifacts of historic significance, as he is passionate about the public ownership of such objects. He may or may not have been involved in chasing down rumors of special items in hidden locations, often before Garlean forces could beat him to the same item, especially during the wars at the time of the Final Days. He’s faced off with not a few Garlean officers as well as blasphemies, for better or worse. He has been dragged home by his lead-researcher-and-provost-head mother several times over the years, to his chagrin. At those times, he was forced to give lectures, and due to his attractive bunny adventurer self, combined with his reputation (both scholarly and adventurous), he tends to have not a few students (and the occasional fellow faculty) rather throwing themselves at him. It’s not his favorite, and frankly he’s always looking for the quickest route of escape as soon as he’s set foot on Sharlayan soil. In exchange, he has instead been lecturing every now and again at the Scholasticate in Ishgard, a compromise that has held his mother off for the recent moment. He would much rather be in the field chasing down rumors and finding new knowledge through digs, or discovering new secrets about the Nymians and the War of the Magi. To be frank, it’s been rumored that a few times his mother has been embroiled in similar shenanigans before Orion was born, so between her and his wandering guide of a father, perhaps it’s actually inherited! Exploration and discovery are truly the passions of Orion’s life.

The bebe boy of a large if somewhat nontraditional moon keeper family - Rev has two brothers and seven sisters, all older than him, and his family never distanced themselves from their male children. Rev is the youngest and was a little fragile, having been born early. His mother kept him close as a child, and he was teased for being coddled. But he liked to run, and to shoot arrows when he eventually learned, and he took to hunting like breathing. He became a skilled archer and joined the guild, but declined an offer to join the Gridanian army, the Order of the Twin Adder, or the city guard. Instead he began splitting his time between assisting with complicated hunts and being a hired guard. Now he mostly does a great deal of bodyguard work, with the occasional fall back on guarding or really anything that pays... And morals are generally not a problem. These days he prefers working with fists and blades to a bow and arrow, and he's discovered he has a taste for getting physical, more than happy to take someone down and teach them a lesson. Blood looks good on him, he thinks. Location-wise, he goes wherever the pay is good and he feels he’ll have an interesting time, enjoying the nightlife in many a city. He’s a bit of a slag, to be frank, and is highly unashamed of it. He loves to flirt and to f… ind a good time wherever he can. Fighting can get his blood up, so having a dust up will often make him want to take it out on someone in a… differently physical way. Fairly flamboyant in style, short for even a miqo'te and preferring to dye his white-blond hair with candy colors, he is often underestimated, often to his vicious bloodthirsty streak's benefit.

Reminaud is the third child of a Scholasticate scholar and his highborn bride. Remi’s parents were not thought of or treated well by her family but she was allowed to marry anyway (rumor is that she was pregnant with his sister, their first-born, or it would never have happened). Remi has three siblings. They have always had an artistic soul and loved to draw as a youth, but they were pressured into studying to become a chirurgeon and even learning healing magics and was starting to learn the beginnings of astrologian talents.Their brother, Renault, elder by three years, had become a dragoon, and Remi wanted to serve somewhere they could be of help to their brother and his regiment. When news of what was happening with Dalamud reached Ishgard, Renault was one of a number of soldiers who took issue with the city-state keeping out of it and broke ranks, going AWOL to join a contingent of freelance Ishgardian soldiers who entered with the adventurers’ ranks at Cartineau. Renault begged Remi to come along, but Remi was at the edge of finishing their studies and possibly getting the nod to become an official apprentice to the Astrologians, and it was a risk they didn’t want to take.
They never saw Renault again.Remi blamed themself.
When news of what happened reached home, everyone in the familly was crushed, of course. Remi, however, went into a severe depressive spiral. They ended up hospitalized, their parents fearing they might do themself harm. It took them several months before they recovered and was returned to the bosom of their family. The Scholasticate gave them their chirugeon’s certificate, but they dropped out of trying for a place with the astrologians, and had little interest in healing… or much of anything for a good long while. Art, and specifically drawing, was the only thing that really held their interest. Whether still-life sketches or just a page of patterned doodles, they would spend hours staring out a window or sitting in the family garden with a sketchpad.Their mother started foisting them on old school chums who would drag them to a local pub and then forget about them, their sullen, quiet mood that had become their norm not boisterous enough to keep their company. After the second or third time of this, they took it upon themself to start inhabiting a corner of the Forgotten Knight with their charcoal and pad, arriving alone in the early evening, sketching faces and random details, or just flights of fancy.
After many moons of this, a man named Alin took an interest. At first Remi thought it was a come on - it wouldn’t have been the first time someone approached the quiet artist in the bar corner using curiosity as an angle. But it turned out the other elezen was professionally interested. Like a number of the Knight’s patrons, and an increasing number of folk in general in Ishgard these days, he was fairly heavily tattooed, and it turned out he had done a fair number of them himself. He had spent several years in Limsa Lominsa studying under a roegadyn master, and had returned to Ishgard, at least for a time, to ply his trade in his hometown.
While Alin did most of his work out of a small parlor shop in the Brume, a surprising array of patrons from all tiers of Ishgardian society were hungry for ink. Apparently it was to the point where he had already dragged a colleague in from Limsa - a hrothgar named Viktor who was an apprentice of the same master - and even the two of them were struggling to keep the appointment book from overflowing and running themselves ragged. Alin was looking for an apprentice, and Remi’s art turned his head.
Remi became fascinated with the idea and, when the offer was made, jumped at the chance to at least try their hand. It quickly turned out they were a natural at it. They spent three years apprenticing under Alin and Viktor before spending however long since as their colleague.A year ago, Alin took the offer of a lifetime to travel and study for several years under a master of traditional ink in Doma. Alin encouraged Remi to buy the shop from him - Viktor wasn’t interested in owning and running the place, just working as an artist - so Remi did, and now they own the shop and are currently on a search to hire a new artist (or possibly get an apprentice). They have also spent much of the time since he finished their apprenticeship perfecting their own style of enchanted tattoos. Mostly they've been able to achieve glowing, sparkling, moving and enhanced colors, but they've recently been able to figure out a way to aetherically imbue some simpler spells into the designs, like a light spell and a small elemental-based spell. They are currently working on more. The concept is based on charging certain known power patterns and runes with a stored amount of aether that can be released upon command. Sure, enchanted designs like these are not unusual, but it’s about developing the imbument in their own style, like everything else they do.While they have the capabilities to ink much of what's requested of them relatively skillfully, Remi excels in realism and watercolor styles, although they very much enjoy dipping into the geometric and cartoonish styles that are often popular. While they’ll do it, the old-school Limsan/seafaring style of tattoo art is their least favorite and they’ll often pass a patron off to their colleague Viktor if it’s requested because it’s Vik’s speciality.
